Omniseek: People: Gene Wilder Battling Cancer

Gene Wilder, the shock-haired funnyman known for such comedy classics as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory The Producers Young Frankenstein, is in the hospital battling cancer--the same disease that claimed his wife and fellow comic great Gilda Radner a decade ago. Wilder, 64, is in Manhattan's Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to prevent a recurrence of lymphoma, a hospital rep said today. He was diagnosed with lymphoma last year. No word on what type he's suffering from--some forms of lymphoma are treatable. His manager refused comment on the actor's condition.
